Nick Adenhart 1986-2009

Nick Adenhart died Wednesday night hours after pitching 6 innings for the Angels. It's so sad that someone with a full career ahead of them died at such a young age and all because some drunk driver, who already had a suspended license, made a stupid decision to get behind the wheel of a car.
My prayers go out to his family, close friends, and the families of Nick's two friends who also lost their lives.

It just reminds all of us how precious life is and at any moment it could happen to us. Life is short, live it to the fullest.

Texas Tops Mariners

Kinsler overcame Texas' three-run deficit with a three-run homer in the fifth. Nelson Cruz singled and Travis Metcalf reached on Adrian Beltre's error before Kinsler lined a leadoff pitch from Horacio Ramirez over the left-field wall for his 16th of the season. Jamey Wright pitched five solid innings to lead the Rangers to a 5-3 win over the Mariners Saturday. Beltre left five men on base and committed two crucial errors that led to four Texas runs.
Pitcher C.J. Wilson pitched in the ninth to earn his eighth save. Wilson gave up one hit and one walk. But then was able to get three groundballs to get out of the inning.

Twins Beat Rangers

Nick Punto scored on a wild pitch with nobody out in the 10th inning to lift the Twins to a 2-1 win over the Rangers tonight. After striking out with two runners on in the top of the 10th and two outs, Marlon Byrd misplayed a shallow fly ball from Nick Punto, and the error allowed Punto to stretch a single into a triple. With Joe Mauer at the plate, reliever Jamey Wright bounced a pitch at the plate that got past the catcher, and Punto ran home to end the game.

Barry Bonds Hit 756

I'll probably never be a true Barry Bonds fan but you gotta give him credit for setting the new homerun record which now stands at 756. Like him or not, legitimate or not, he is baseball's new home run king.

Pitcher C.J. Wilson

One player on the Rangers that I would like to mention is left handed reliever C.J. Wilson. Here are his 2007 stats so far. I'm sure before the season is over we'll see some more good games pitched by him.

G-43, IP-45.1, H-30, R-14, HR-3, BB-23, SO-44, W-2, L-1, Sv-0, P/GS-0, WHIP-1.17, BAA-.190, ERA-2.58

In Memory of Mike Coolbaugh

Mike Coolbaugh, 35, died Sunday after being struck in the head by a line drive as he stood in the first-base coach's box during a game in Arkansas. The game between the Double-A Drillers and Arkansas Travelers was suspended in the ninth inning Sunday after Coolbaugh was hit by the foul ball. He had a wife, two little boys, and another kid on the way.

Twins' ace Johan Santana

The A's caught Johan Santana on a rare off day. The Twins five-game winning streak ended in a 4-2 lose. Santana who had won his last two starts, struck out four batters but also walked a season-high four batters and ran into trouble in the first, then again in the third. He allowed four runs, three earned, and five hits in six innings as the Twins had their streak of four straight series victories crushed. Stranded baserunners in each of the first three innings, including leaving the bases loaded in the third after Torii Hunter's popup.
On the other hand catcher JOE MAUER will work out Monday in Florida before playing Tuesday with Class A Fort Myers after being on the 15 day disabled list for a quad. The sooner he comes back the better off the Twins will be to have Mauer back in the hitting rotation and I think will help give them a boost.
